Toshi Jamir. MTI registered Massage Practitioner

As a fully qualified MTI registered massage therapist with over 15 years of experience, I am dedicated to providing exceptional massage therapy services. Specializing in Deep Tissue Massage and Holistic Massage, I aim to help you find relief from aches, pains, and stress, while promoting overall well-being.

I'm originally from a place called Nagaland which is situated in the north-east part of India. Massage is deeply ingrained in our culture. Growing up, I witnessed the transformative power of massage as a normal part of our daily lives. This inspired me to pursue a career in massage therapy, driven by the desire to bring comfort and healing to others. I'm a member of Massage Training Institute (MTI).

The Massage Training Institute (MTI) stands as a testament to the dedication and vision of a group of passionate massage tutors who founded the institute in 1988. Filling a void in the industry by championing a holistic approach to massage, MTI quickly gained widespread recognition and esteem. The institute's model of training and practice has since become an integral part of the standards for holistic massage in the UK, as recognized by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). What sets MTI apart is its commitment to teaching a diverse array of techniques that can be tailored to individual clients, rather than adhering to a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach. Through stringent accreditation processes and individual assessment of practical and theoretical skills, MTI ensures that its diploma courses maintain the highest standards. Furthermore, MTI's emphasis on ongoing professional development and participation in regional support groups underscores its dedication to nurturing skilled and knowledgeable practitioners.

I began my journey by qualifying as a massage therapist in 2004 from the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork (BCMB). Following my qualification, I had the privilege of working at the Bath Natural Medical Centre until 2013. Later, I expanded my practice and worked in London's prestigious Harley Street for a few months. Since then, I have been providing massages from my home studio in Kingston and offering personalized home visits for the last 10 years. I am currently based in the beautiful seaside town of Poole, located in Dorset where I provide my massage therapy.

In addition to my expertise in Deep Tissue Massage and Holistic Massage, I am also skilled in Myofascial Release, Cupping Therapy, and Onsite Chair Massage. Over the years, I have had the opportunity of working with clients from various walks of life, ranging from professional athletes and footballers to hardworking office professionals and homemakers.

Massage therapy is not just a job for me; it is my passion. I take immense pride in knowing that through my therapeutic touch, I can help you find relief, relaxation, and rejuvenation. If you are ready to embark on a journey of wellness and experience the transformative power of massage, I invite you to book a session with me.

I am committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for my clients. With a focus on client-centered care, I work with my clients to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to their individual needs and preferences.

Whether you need relief from chronic pain, stress, or simply want to relax and unwind, I am here to help.

Frequently Asked Questions about Massage

**How should I prepare for a massage?**

To prepare for your massage, consider taking a warm shower or a brief bath to start the relaxation process. Don't be concerned about your body type or appearance. As a massage therapist, I've worked with a variety of body shapes and sizes. My primary objective is to ensure a positive and beneficial experience for you.

**I'm nervous about my first massage. Do I have to undress?**

Feeling apprehensive about your first massage is normal. I strive to make all my clients feel comfortable. You have the discretion to undress to your comfort level, and a sheet will always cover you. Only the area being worked on will be temporarily exposed, ensuring your modesty is respected throughout the session. If you ever feel uncomfortable with any part of the massage, please let me know and I will adjust the treatment accordingly.

**What benefits can I expect from a massage?**

Massage therapy has been shown to increase blood circulation to muscles and soft tissues, aid in toxin release, boost lymph flow and endorphins, reduce heart rate, and increase energy levels. It can also help alleviate acute and chronic pain, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, digestive disorders, fibromyalgia, headache, insomnia and sinusitis among other conditions. The benefits vary according to the type of treatment and individual circumstances.

**What does a massage session typically involve?**

A typical massage session with me includes either Therapeutic/Holistic Massage or Deep Tissue Massage. Techniques may involve kneading, petrissage, effleurage, skin rolling, percussion, stretching and joint mobilisation. We'll start with a confidential consultation to ensure there are no contraindications and to discuss any areas that may require special attention. You're welcome to ask any questions or express any concerns at any time.

**Where will my massage take place?**

Your massage will be conducted in a peaceful, comfortable, and private room. You'll lie on a massage table and always be covered with a sheet. My goal is to make sure you feel utterly at ease during your treatment.

**What type of oils or lotions do you use?**

I typically use hypoallergenic aqueous based oil mixed  essential oils or NAQI massage lotions. However, if you have any allergies or sensitivities, please let me know in advance so adjustments can be made.

**Is massage therapy safe? Are there any side effects?**

When performed by a qualified practitioner, massage therapy is generally safe. However, if you have any medical conditions — such as recent surgeries, pregnancy, heart problems, slipped discs, deep vein thrombosis, skin infections, venereal disease, oedema, bacterial or viral infections, or nerve injuries — it's crucial to consult with your primary healthcare provider first.

**How long do the effects of a massage last? How often should I get a massage?**

The duration and frequency of the beneficial effects of massage vary from person to person, depending on your overall physical and mental wellbeing, your lifestyle, and any specific issues you're dealing with. If you're receiving massage therapy for prevention, health maintenance, or wellbeing, the frequency can be more flexible. Regular massages, however, can contribute significantly to overall health and stress management.

**What should I do after a massage?**

After a massage, it's crucial to drink plenty of water. This helps to flush out any toxins that have been released during the session. Gentle stretching can also be beneficial, as it helps to further loosen your muscles. If it's feasible, consider taking a relaxing hot bath. This can extend the relaxation process and further enhance the benefits of your massage session.
